At this year’s Annual Conference of the International Bar Association, which was\u00a0held in Washington the week of 18-23 of September, the Healthcare and Life Sciences Law Committee has organized a Session under the title \u201cProviding and paying for healthcare: public, private or something in between? Obamacare and beyond\u201d.<\/p>\n
This session saught\u00a0to explain the goal of the societies of providing their people with high-quality, comprehensive and affordable healthcare in different ways. It debated questions such as \u201cHow many should be covered and for what conditions? At what cost? Who should pay? Who should provide?\u201d It also explored some of the different approaches followed by different countries \u2013 from private\/private to public\/public and the variations in-between, including the impact of Obamacare on paying for and providing healthcare in the USA.<\/p>\n
