Faus Moliner participates in the V Forum of Pharmacy and Therapeutics Commissions organized by FUINSA

Jordi Faus participates in the round table entitled "The PTCs in the face of non-financed drugs".

The Fifth Forum of Pharmacy and Therapeutics Commissions was held in Madrid on 19 June and June 20, 2023.

In his speech, Jordi Faus has launched different messages. In the first place, he has expressed his total respect for the activity of health professionals and managers of public pharmaceutical services, who have to make decisions that are undoubtedly difficult. He encourages them to do so in accordance with a regulated procedure and always with proper motivation.

Secondly, it has emphasized that the Report “of those expressly not included” signed by the Director General on April 11, 2019 is a legal mess that should be removed from the catalog of texts that can influence the public pharmaceutical service. According to this Report, the Autonomous Communities and hospitals cannot finance with public funds (that is, they cannot acquire) medicinal products for which there is an express resolution of non-financing.

Finally, Jordi Faus has referred to the fundamental rights of patients, and to the latest jurisprudential tendencies of the Constitutional Court, the European Court of Human Rights and other lower courts that suggest that the fundamental right to life is something more than the right to exist. Jordi recalled that in the regulations there are specific procedures for the protection of fundamental rights, and that in quite a few judicial proceedings the recourse to said fundamental rights has made it possible to reverse situations in which the pharmacy and therapeutic commissions had denied access to drugs.
