Barcelona, 21 November 2020 – The Cercle d’Economia has presented the report “La recuperación post covid-19”. The Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, has participated in this important event.
The report, prepared by its Commission of experts on life sciences, includes some reflections on the role of the health sector and its contribution to the post-Covid-19 recovery, and it also offers ideas on the future of our system in the medium term.
Among the proposals included in the report, it is important to highlight the commitment to increase health spending by 12,240 million euros, a 1% of GDP, following the model of countries such as Germany and France, supporting therefore research initiatives, digitalization projects and investment in equipment and technology.
The Opinion Note also highlights the importance of implementing a reformed human resources policy by improving the remuneration of health professionals in order to avoid the exodus of professionals from Southern Europe.
The experts also express the conviction that the health sector will be fundamental for the recovery in the next 10 years. It will be a key piece to achieve a change in the productive model, promoting the economy through its innovative activity, which generates direct and indirect jobs of high qualification and with a very solid industrial base.
