Jordi Faus, member of the Support Committee for the candidacy of Barcelona to be the new home for the European Medicines Agency (EMA)
The Support Committe consists of eighty professionals with relevant careers and aims to involve the whole civil society to achieve the success of the candidacy
The creation of the Support Committee for the candidacy of Barcelona as seat of the EMA is part of the campaign #BCN4EMA, which is being jointly promoted by the Government of Spain, the Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council to achieve that Barcelona becomes the new medicines capital of Europe.
The creation of such Committe is intended to involve the whole civil society in the success of the candidacy of Barcelona as seat of the EMA. The Support Committee consists of eighty prominent people of the civil society. Among such people there are professionals who have had outstanding professional careers in the health sector, the pharmaceutical industry and the bussiness field. Likewise, the group is composed of prominent individuals in the fields of communication, retired politicians, leading members from the academic community and representatives of international agencies.
The first meeting of the Support Committee took place on 12 of June at the Parc de Recerca Biomèdica in Barcelona and has been chaired by the Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality, Dolors Montserrat, the Regional Minister of Health of the Government of Catalonia, Antoni Comín and the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau.
